Shy asks for location only after you choose to start. The server uses your active location to show nearby, city, or worldwide matches while your visibility window is running.

These notes explain Shy's privacy behavior in plain language.
Name, photos, note, interests, and shared contact are optional. Contact can stay off, appear nearby, or appear after chat opens.
Messages, waves, saved contact sync, blocks, reports, and feedback are stored so the app can work across devices. Message threads are pruned after about seven days.
Use Hide now to leave live discovery, Block or Report for safety, and Forget me to clear this phone and ask the server to forget linked account data.
The owner can review reports, recent reported-message context, feedback, operational health, and private backups to keep Shy running and respond to safety issues.
Shy also keeps local settings, saved contacts, and backups in your browser. Data controls in the app let you copy, download, restore, or clear local Shy data.
